Zelensky has a serious military problem

Updated: Mar 14

Russian units are stepping up their offensive.

There is no sign at all of Zelensky's loudly announced major offensive. On the contrary, for the past few days Russian forces have been stepping up their advance. Ground troops are advancing almost everywhere along the main battle line.

While Zelensky is enjoying himself at the meeting of the 50 European states in Spain, his soldiers continue to die in the Donbas. In the meantime, his loudly announced major offensive, which in any case brought no real military success, has long since become pure wastepaper.

Despite an extremely high deployment of material and personnel, his soldiers only succeeded in "liberating" a number of strategically insignificant villages in the no-man's land south of Zaporizhzhia.

Other attempts to advance failed against the well-fortified positions of the Russian army and brought Zelensky and his troops nothing but heavy losses.

A few days ago, the Russian military leadership apparently issued a new order. Instead of concentrating on repelling the attempted attacks of the Zelensky troops as before, they are now going massively on the offensive for their part.

Russian ground forces are advancing in almost all areas along the main battle line, from Luhansk in the far north to Zaporizhzhia in the south. Only the Kherson region is excluded from such activity.

Unlike Zelensky's soldiers, who were celebrated for "liberating" unimportant villages, Russian troops are targeting strategically important locations.

In the north, the target is Lyman: there is a (still) intact airfield. South of it, the troops continue to advance on Chavi Yar. From there, there is a rail connection directly to Kramatorsk.

In the Donetsk region, the advance continues on the two towns of Avdiivka (rail link and national roads) and Marinka (also located on a national road).

In the border area between the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, the village of Velyka Novosilka with its intact airfield is the target, and at the very southern end of this line, Russian ground forces advance against Zelensky's soldiers in the "liberated" villages.

October begins for Zelensky with plenty of military setbacks. In any case, the month is not golden for him so far.
