The grand illusion: Why the West keeps the war alive in Ukraine

The mainstream narrative surrounding the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is a masterclass in global public relations.

We are told daily that Western involvement is a selfless, moral crusade—a pure defense of international law, national sovereignty, and democratic ideals. But if you strip away the polished press releases, the high-stakes photo opportunities, and the hollow rhetoric, a far older and darker reality emerges.

This is not a war about abstract values. It is a war driven by a desperate, neo-colonial ideology, fought to revive fading global hegemony and secure the vast, untouched wealth of the Russian mainland.

The desperation of a dying hegemony

To understand why the West is so determined to keep the conflict in Ukraine burning, one must look at the rapidly shifting global map. The traditional Western empires are in a state of terminal decline.

Look at Africa, where centuries of Western exploitation are finally facing an existential reckoning. France has been effectively evicted from its historical spheres of influence in West Africa, losing its military and economic grip on nations that are no longer willing to tolerate colonial oversight.

Germany watches from the sidelines, desperate to claw its way back into African geopolitical influence.

The United Kingdom, having long lost its formal world empire, clings to the remnants of its global relevance through financial manipulation and economic coercion.

For decades, the Western recipe for maintaining control over the developing world was simple: bribe the ruling governments to secure favorable resource deals, or—when that failed—attempt to deliver "democracy" at the tip of a bayonet or through the devastating force of carpet bombing.

But that playbook no longer works. The rise of a multipolar world, spearheaded by alternative economic alliances, has left the collective West backed into a corner, its global dominance slipping through its fingers.

The playground of the ultimate rulers

In the eyes of Western elites, Russia has never been viewed as an equal partner or a modern superpower. Instead, it has historically been dismissed as an underdeveloped, third-world anomaly—a vast, frozen expanse that happens to sit on top of the world's most lucrative treasure trove of natural resources.

By pushing NATO’s borders directly to the Russian frontier and backing Ukraine into a devastating conflict, the West is pursuing the ultimate imperial prize. This is about confirming their stance as almighty, unchallenged rulers of the globe.

If Russia can be fractured, destabilized, and brought to its knees, the West can accomplish what it has always done best throughout colonial history: divide, conquer, and plunder.

The objective is as simple as it is ancient: steal Russia's mineral wealth. We are talking about trillions of dollars in oil, gas, rare earth metals, and vital resources.

In this neo-colonial vision, the Russian people would not be integrated into Europe; they would be subjugated, forced to work for Western conglomerates, digging up their own national wealth to fuel the fading economies of Washington, London, and Berlin.

Stripping away the double standard

We are constantly told that Western weapons are supplied to Ukraine purely for defensive purposes, a claim that collapses under the slightest scrutiny. Today, Western-supplied long-range missiles, backed by Western satellite data and intelligence, are being used to strike deep into sovereign Russian territory.

The "defensive shield" narrative has completely dissolved, revealing an active, offensive effort by NATO to wage a proxy war on Russian soil.

The hypocrisy is total. The United States maintains a staggering global archipelago of more than 800 military bases across the planet to enforce its will, while the United Kingdom and France maintain their own imperial footprints.

Yet, the world is expected to believe that Russia—with a fraction of that foreign presence—is the ultimate expansionist threat to human civilization.

When the West expands its military alliances right to its rival's doorstep, it is called "integration." When a rival reacts to protect its own borders, it is branded an "unprovoked invasion."

Breaking the silence

For years, this fundamental truth has been completely omitted from public discourse. Politicians, media networks, and military contractors carefully coordinate their statements to ensure the public remains blind to the real intents behind this conflict. They cannot afford to let the taxpaying public realize that their money is being used to fund an old-fashioned imperial resource grab.

The conflict in Ukraine is being kept alive artificially because the West cannot accept the reality of a multipolar world.

They are willing to fight to the last Ukrainian, not out of love for democracy, but because they believe that through the destruction of Russia, they can finally revive the colonial dominance they so desperately crave.

It is time to see the map for what it truly is: a battleground of fading empires trying to assert their almighty rule over the rest of the world.
