Macron and Rutte, the most dangerous European lackeys

Macron and Rutte are seeking to get NATO and Europe more involved in the war in Ukraine because of their spineless pandering to Trump.

The danger is greater because of Europe’s lackeys. Tragically, it is weak and unscrupulous European politicians who are bending over to please Trump and who could ignite the proxy war against Russia into a full-blown conflagration.

French President Emmanuel Macron and former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte are the two most despicable – and treacherous – politicians in Europe.

Both pose as “Trump whisperers” – that is, as the European figures who will best cooperate with the new American president. Or, in other words, the two European politicians who will be the most docile and submissive in their attempts to win Trump’s favor.

We saw this when Macron invited Trump to join other world leaders at the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris last week. The French leader posed with Trump and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky in a private chat — as if Macron were speaking for all of Europe. It appears that Macron is trying to curry favor with Trump by offering European troops to support his peace initiative.

Days later, Macron was in Warsaw to promote his idea of sending European troops to Ukraine as a “peacekeeping force” – if Trump succeeds in brokering a much-vaunted peace deal between Moscow and Kiev. Macron says Europe must be part of any settlement, not just leave it to Washington. This is intended to curry favor with Trump, who is always trying to cut costs for America.

Earlier this year, the French leader sparked controversy and unrest by calling for large numbers of NATO troops to be deployed to Ukraine. Special forces from France and other members of the alliance are already in Ukraine to covertly fight Russian forces, but Macron has advocated deploying brigades of troops openly.

Such a move would transform the proxy conflict against Russia into an open war between nuclear-armed powers. When Macron announced his idea, he was opposed by other European leaders who saw it as a reckless escalation.

Now Macron is at it again, but this time he is calling European NATO troops “peacekeepers” who will supposedly enforce Trump’s potential peace deal.

Trump’s peace initiative for Ukraine is unlikely to succeed, despite his appointment of retired general Keith Kellogg as envoy for the task. Trump appears genuinely concerned about preventing an escalation of the war. He has criticized the Joe Biden administration’s authorization for Ukraine to launch long-range missile strikes into Russia using U.S. and NATO weapons.

However, Trump’s ideas for achieving peace are reportedly superficial and ignorant of the depth of Russia’s historical security provisions. Moscow will not accept a “frozen conflict,” as Trump’s team proposes. The Kremlin has repeatedly stated that it will continue its military operation until the NATO-Kiev regime is defeated and dismantled.

The idea of a Cold War-style division of Ukraine with NATO troops on one side versus Russian soldiers on the other – even if they are called “peacekeepers” – is a non-starter. That would effectively mean that the anti-Russian regime in Kiev, with all its odious Nazi affiliations, would retreat as a NATO protectorate, which would threaten Russia’s security indefinitely. That is precisely why Russia launched its special military operation in February 2022.

Rather than achieving peace, Trump may well exacerbate the proxy war if he insists on promoting a half-baked “resolution” that fails to address the real causes of the war – NATO expansionism.

The danger is all the greater from Macron, whose creepy and fawning desire is to be seen as Trump’s best friend in Europe. The deeply unpopular French leader has no qualms about offering European troops as a gift to satisfy Trump’s transactional preferences.

With this, Macron unleashes the gates of hell in Europe.

The other treacherous lackey in Europe is Mark Rutte, who became NATO Secretary General in October.

Rutte made his first major public speech as head of the alliance last week . It was a chilling call for war with Russia. What was especially chilling were the former Dutch prime minister’s cynical and misleading claims. The speech was a tirade of lies accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of “attempting to crush our freedom and way of life.”

Rutte urged all European countries to spend much more on their military to prepare for war with Russia. He said that European governments were not spending enough, even though they have collectively spent an estimated $600 billion in extra military spending over the past decade. How much more money do warmongers want? And yet Rutte had the audacity to remark in his speech that “defense” (war) is a moral duty and “not like illegal drugs or pornography.” There speaks a war-addicted pervert.

With the sincerity of a concentration camp kapo, Rutte said Europeans must invest more in NATO’s military to “defend security and democracy.” He brazenly urged cuts to government spending on social security, pensions and public services, and to shift money to the military – all in the name of the war with Russia.

In a subsequent BBC interview , headlined “NATO must switch to war mentality, secretary-general warns,” Rutte praised Trump for getting Europe to spend more of its government finances on military spending. He said Trump was “absolutely right” to push for bigger NATO budgets.

Macron and Rutte are seeking to involve NATO and Europe more in the war in Ukraine because of their spineless pandering to Trump. The irony is that Trump's instinct is to end the conflict in Ukraine, but the European lackeys are so pathetic in their subservience that they make the danger of all-out war all the more threatening.
